Managing Partner
Alex Sanders
Alex Sanders is Managing Partner at Sanders Carter. He leads firm growth, deal origination, and capital relationships. He sets investment strategy, structures partnerships, and leads capitalization and partnership strategy across the development platform.
Prior to Sanders Carter, Alex held senior roles across development and acquisitions with a focus on hospitality and mixed-use opportunities. He has driven projects from early formation through capitalization and stakeholder alignment to position them for successful execution. He has also led site selection and deal sourcing, structured transactions, and partnered with operators, lenders, and equity groups to bring projects to market. He brings a rare blend of relationship-driven dealmaking and rigorous capital structuring that bridges the gap between vision, underwriting, and aligned partners.
Alex earned a Master of Real Estate and Development from Georgetown University and a B.S. in Marketing from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University.
Director of Development
Joe Cavicchi
Joe Cavicchi is Director of Development at Sanders Carter. He leads development from early deal evaluation through delivery. He drives underwriting, acquisitions, and project capitalization, supports entitlement strategy and design and consultant management, and leads construction-phase execution.
Prior to joining Sanders Carter, Joe held roles spanning healthcare real estate development, commercial project delivery, and MEP-focused construction management. He brings a rare blend of field-tested construction experience and rigorous real estate finance capability that connects plans and pro formas to real-world outcomes.
Joe earned an MBA from Vanderbilt University with an emphasis in finance and real estate and holds a mechanical engineering degree from Baylor University.
Director of Design
Dan Tansey
Dan Tansey is the Director of Design at Sanders Carter and President of SC Design. He guides each project by delivering thoughtful, impactful design solutions that balance vision, practicality, and long‑term community value. He has more than two decades of experience in architecture and urban design.
Before joining Sanders Carter, Dan served as a Principal at STG Design, where he led major multifamily, mixed‑use, and urban development projects across Nashville and supporting offices. His work has positioned him as a trusted voice in Nashville’s rapidly evolving development landscape.
Dan began his career working across architecture and planning roles, gaining deep expertise in building systems, entitlements, site analysis, and project delivery. He holds both a Bachelor of Architecture and a Master of Planning in Urban Design from Auburn University.
As a committed community advocate, Dan has served for more than a decade as a Board Member of the Sports4All Foundation, supporting programs that expand access to sports and healthy activities for people with disabilities.
